Roberto de Mattei conduceva dal 17 febbraio 2010, ogni terzo mercoledì del mese a Radio Maria. La ragione del provvedimento è l'articolo dello stesso de Mattei 2013-2014. Caro Prof. Roberto De Mattei, ho letto il suo recente articolo " Motus in fine velocior" e ho notato come si stia sempre più accentuando la sua posizione critica nei confronti del Pontificato di Papa Francesco. Ne sono molto dispiaciuto e avrei desiderato che Lei mettesse la sua grande preparazione culturale al servizio del Successore di Pietro. Lei comprende, caro Professore, che la sua posizione è incompatibile con la presenza a Radio Maria la quale prevede, nei suoi Principi guida, l'adesione non solo al Magistero della Chiesa, ma anche il sostegno all'azione pastorale del Sommo Pontefice. Caro padre Livio, Con una e-mail del 13 febbraio Lei mi comunica di aver deciso di sospendere la trasmissione "Radici Cristiane" a Radio Maria perché si starebbe "sempre più accentuando" la mia "posizione critica nei confronti del Pontificato di Papa Francesco". "La sua posizione – mi scrive – è incompatibile con la presenza a Radio Maria la quale prevede, nei suoi Principi guida, l'adesione non solo al Magistero della Chiesa, ma anche il sostegno all'azione pastorale del Sommo Pontefice".
Innanzitutto la ringrazio per l'invito che Lei mi fece, quattro anni fa, a condurre la trasmissione "Radici Cristiane" a Radio Maria. Da allora allo scorso 15 gennaio, ogni terzo mercoledì del mese, ho cercato di svolgere al meglio il compito che mi aveva affidato, sviluppando temi di carattere storico, apologetico, spirituale e morale in difesa della Chiesa e della Civiltà cristiana. La ringrazio anche per avermi pubblicamente difeso quando a causa di alcune trasmissioni fui violentemente attaccato dalla stampa laicista. Tutta la mia attività e il mio apostolato è stato e rimane al servizio della Chiesa e del Romano Pontefice, al quale ho dedicato il mio ultimo volume Vicario di Cristo. Il Papato tra normalità e eccezione. La devozione al Papato costituisce una parte essenziale della mia vita spirituale.
 La dottrina cattolica ci insegna però che il Papa è infallibile solo a determinate condizioni e che può commettere errori, nel campo ad esempio, della politica ecclesiastica, delle scelte strategiche, dell'azione pastorale e perfino del magistero ordinario. In questo caso non è un peccato, ma un dovere di coscienza per un cattolico rimarcarlo, purché lo faccia con tutto il rispetto e l'amore che si deve al Sommo Pontefice. Così fecero i santi, che devono essere il nostro modello di vita.
 La Chiesa lascia questa libertà di critica ai suoi figli e non pecca chi, con la dovuta riverenza, sottolinea le mancanze delle gerarchie ecclesiastiche. Pecca invece chi tace, per viltà o conformismo. Il dramma della Chiesa di oggi sta proprio nella paura dei sacerdoti e dei vescovi, che costituiscono la pars electa della Chiesa, di denunciare la terribile crisi in atto, di risalire alle cause, di proporre rimedi.
 Ho riletto l'articolo che costituisce la ragione del mio allontanamento e non mi sembra che ci sia nulla di irriguardoso nei confronti del regnante Pontefice, ma solo alcune considerazioni di carattere storico più che teologico, mosse da puro amore della Verità. Non ho inoltre esposto le mie preoccupazioni sulla attuale situazione della Chiesa nella mia trasmissione mensile di Radio Maria, ma su un'agenzia di informazioni da me diretta.
 Caro padre Livio, rientra nella sua piena libertà il congedarmi dalla sua emittente, ma sarebbe stato meglio che Lo avesse fatto senza motivazioni, piuttosto che addurre ragioni così deboli e, se mi permette, infondate. Lei non esce bene da questa vicenda e sinceramente me ne dispiace. Il moto degli eventi si fa sempre più veloce e prima o poi il vortice coinvolgerà anche Lei e Radio Maria, costringendola ad assumere, in un senso o nell'altro, posizioni che Lei si illude possano essere schivate. Vengono momenti però in cui bisogna schierarsi. Per quanto mi riguarda continuerò ad esercitare la mia libertà di cristiano per difendere la fede che ho ricevuto con il mio battesimo e che costituisce il mio bene più caro. Che lo Spirito Santo mi aiuti a non cedere mai ad alcuna pressione o lusinga, a non cessare mai di dire la verità e a dirla tanto più forte quanto più grande è il silenzio di chi dovrebbe esserne voce.

Caro Professore, la ringrazio per la sua pacata risposta. Il suo articolo mi è stato segnalato con preoccupazione da qualche ascoltatore che la segue. Certe decisioni si prendono con sofferenza. E' mia ferma convinzione che la Chiesa, possa uscire dal travaglio odierno seguendo la Madonna e il Papa. Come ci insegna Benedetto XVI, è più che mai l'ora della preghiera.

I Giuristi per la Vita hanno appreso che alla prossima edizione del Festival della Canzone Italiana di Sanremo prenderà parte il controverso artista Rufus Wainwright, noto, tra l'altro, per l'esecuzione di testi osceni e dissacratori come il celebre "Gay Messiah", in cui si parla del «Messia che risusciterà da un film porno degli anni '70», del «Battista» che «non viene battezzato nello sperma», e di altre allusioni erotiche di natura blasfema. Poiché il predetto testo integra palesemente il reato di offese ad una confessione religiosa mediante il vilipendio di persone, previsto e punito dall'art.403 del Codice Penale, i Giuristi per la Vita ricordano che ai sensi dell'art. 25, primo comma, del Regolamento del Festival «gli artisti durante le loro esibizioni non potranno assumere atteggiamenti e movenze o usare abbigliamenti e acconciature in contrasto con i principi del buon costume ovvero in violazione di norme di legge o di diritti anche di terzi». Gli stessi Giuristi per la Vita ricordano, altresì, che gli organizzatori del Festival, ed in particolare la Direzione Artistica, il Comitato di Controllo e la Commissione Musicale, sono tenuti a vigilare e controllare il puntuale rispetto della citata norma regolamentare, anche in considerazione della sensibilità religiosa di milioni di telespettatori e della natura di servizio pubblico che riveste la rete emittente.
Per questo, i Giuristi per la Vita: 1) invitano gli organizzatori del Festival, ed in particolare la Direzione Artistica, il Comitato di Controllo e la Commissione Musicale, ad esaminare attentamente il testo dei brani che gli artisti – ed in particolare il predetto cantante Rufus Wainwright – eseguiranno, vigilando affinché negli stessi testi non si ravvisi alcun contenuto osceno o dissacratorio, in violazione di quanto disposto dal citato art. 25 del Regolamento. 2) diffidano gli organizzatori del Festival, ed in particolare la Direzione Artistica, il Comitato di Controllo e la Commissione Musicale, dall'autorizzare o consentire che il cantante Rufus Wainwright si esibisca utilizzando il controverso brano intitolato "Gay Messiah", o altro brano dall'identico contenuto osceno e dissacratorio; 3) avvertono che, in difetto, agiranno giudizialmente contro tutti i responsabili, sia in sede civile (anche attraverso class action, azioni risarcitorie ed ogni altra iniziativa ritenuta utile), sia in sede penale, mediante denuncia alla competente Procura della Repubblica. Primo strumento: «I rapporti sessuali omosessuali sono naturali? Sì». Purtroppo però «un pregiudizio diffuso nei Paesi di natura fortemente religiosa è che il sesso vada fatto solo per avere bambini». Quindi i signori docenti sono invitati a porre agli allievi un'altra domanda: «I rapporti sessuali eterosessuali sono naturali?». Secondo strumento: «Nell'elaborazione di compiti, inventare situazioni che facciano riferimento a una varietà di strutture familiari ed espressioni di genere. Per esempio: "Rosa e i suoi papà hanno comprato tre lattine di tè freddo al bar. Se ogni lattina costa 2 euro, quanto hanno speso?"». L'obiettivo è che maestre e professori possano «essi stessi diventare "educatori dell'omofobia"». A Palazzo Chigi, già poco ferrati nell'aritmetica dei conti pubblici, devono essere assai scarsi anche in italiano. C'è scritto questo e molto altro nei tre opuscoli intitolati Educare alla diversità a scuola commissionati dal Dipartimento per le Pari opportunità all'Istituto A.T. Beck per la terapia cognitivo-comportamentale, con sedi a Roma e Caserta, destinati alle scuole primarie e secondarie per dare concreta attuazione alla Strategia nazionale per la prevenzione e il contrasto delle discriminazioni basate sull'orientamento sessuale e sull'identità di genere. Quando Gianfranco Amato, 52 anni, avvocato di Varese, ha letto le linee guida che il governo intende perseguire nel triennio 2013-2015 sotto l'egida del Consiglio d'Europa, non credeva ai propri occhi. Non solo perché la gestione del progetto risulta affidata al Gruppo nazionale di lavoro Lgbt (acronimo di lesbiche, gay, bisessuali e transgender), «formato da 29 associazioni tutte e solo di quella sponda, come Arcigay, Arcilesbica e Movimento identità transessuale», ma anche perché ha scoperto che in Italia è stata creata a sua insaputa una forza speciale per mettere in riga gli omofobi: «Si chiama Oscad, cioè Osservatorio per la sicurezza contro gli atti discriminatori, ed è composto da polizia e carabinieri. La sigla ricorda l'Ovra fascista. Ormai siamo a uno zelo da far invidia al Reichsministerium für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda di quel malefico genio dell'indottrinamento di Stato che fu Joseph Goebbels». Ecco perché l'avvocato Amato ha notificato un atto di diffida stragiudiziale al Dipartimento delle Pari opportunità, all'Unar, al ministero dell'Istruzione e ai 122 Uffici scolastici regionali e provinciali. «Guai a loro se adotteranno atti o provvedimenti che diano seguito alla Strategia nazionale del governo. Quell'arbitrario documento dev'essere solo annullato». Il legale non ha agito a titolo personale, bensì come presidente dei Giuristi per la vita, un'associazione che ha sede a Roma. Ne fanno parte una quarantina di cultori delle scienze giuridiche, fra cui magistrati come Francesco Mario Agnoli, presidente aggiunto onorario della Cassazione, e Giacomo Rocchi, consigliere della prima sezione penale della medesima Corte suprema.
«Non c'interessa il dialogo sui massimi sistemi, siamo una task force operativa molto agguerrita», spiega Amato, sposato, tre figli, rappresentante per l'Italia di Advocates international e collaboratore dell'Alliance defense fund, formata da legali che si occupano di cause riguardanti la libertà religiosa e la bioetica. «Ci autofinanziamo per offrire patrocinio gratuito a docenti e medici nei guai con la giustizia per motivi di coscienza». Le maestre finiscono in tribunale? «Agli italiani è sfuggito che il 19 settembre la Camera ha approvato il disegno legislativo promosso da Ivan Scalfarotto, deputato del Pd, gay dichiarato. Presto andrà in aula al Senato e diventerà legge dello Stato. Quando ne ho illustrato i contenuti a un amico imprenditore e a sua moglie, non volevano crederci: "Tu esageri sempre". Allora ho capito come si arrivò ai campi di sterminio: grazie all'ignoranza dei tedeschi. Tant'è che mi sono sentito in obbligo di scriverci un libro, Omofobia o eterofobia? Perché opporsi a una legge ingiusta e liberticida, edito da Fede & Cultura, che sta andando a ruba con il passaparola».
Legge liberticida? «Hanno inventato l'emergenza omofobia per avviare una persecuzione contro chi non la pensa come loro. Il Pew research center di Washington, presieduto da Allan Murray, ex vicedirettore del Wall Street Journal, ha pubblicato uno studio mondiale sull'atteggiamento verso l'omosessualità. L'Italia è fra le 10 nazioni più amichevoli con i gay, per i quali il 74 per cento della popolazione non prova alcuna ostilità. Siamo appena un gradino sotto la civilissima Gran Bretagna. Ma poi, scusi, servono le statistiche? Puglia e Sicilia non hanno forse eletto due governatori omosessuali?». Allora perché è stata varata la Strategia nazionale contro l'omofobia?
«Me lo dica lei. Il piano del governo prevede corsi di formazione obbligatoria sui diritti Lgbt non solo per docenti e alunni ma anche per bidelli e personale di segreteria. E che cosa vorrà dire l'impegno a "favorire l'empowerment delle persone Lgbt nelle scuole"? E il "diversity management per i docenti"? Lo chiedo ai cattolici che siedono nel governo, come Gabriele Toccafondi, sottosegretario all'Istruzione, e Maurizio Lupi e Mario Mauro, ministri ciellini». A che serve l'Oscad? «Già, a che serve una sorta di polizia speciale? A me risulta, proprio dai dati dell'Oscad, che dal 2010 a oggi siano pervenute appena 83 segnalazioni per offese, aggressioni, lesioni, danneggiamenti, minacce e suicidi relativi all'orientamento sessuale. Una media di 28 casi l'anno, 1 ogni 2 milioni di abitanti. E questa sarebbe un'emergenza nazionale?».
Stando agli opuscoli dell'Unar, gli insegnanti delle scuole sono tenuti a «non usare analogie che facciano riferimento a una prospettiva eteronormativa» giacché «tale punto di vista può tradursi nell'assunzione che un bambino da grande si innamorerà di una donna e la sposerà». «Sposare una donna: inaudito! Aveva visto giusto Gilbert Chesterton: spade dovranno essere sguainate per dimostrare che le foglie sono verdi d'estate e che 2 più 2 fa 4. Siamo giunti a un livello tale di relativismo da far impazzire la ragione. Non si riconosce più la natura. È la teoria del gender: i ragazzi non sono maschi o femmine per un dato biologico, ma a seconda di come sentono di essere».
Insegnare che «maschio e femmina Dio li creò», come sta scritto nella Bibbia, diventerà reato?
«La strada è quella, tracciata dall'Unar nelle Linee guida per un'informazione rispettosa delle persone Lgbt, dove i credenti vengono biasimati perché descrivono "le unioni tra persone dello stesso sesso come una minaccia alla famiglia tradizionale, come contro natura e come sterili, infeconde". Nei libretti destinati ai maestri, l'Unar denuncia che "il grado di religiosità" è "da tenere in considerazione nel delineare il ritratto di un individuo omofobo" e che "maggiore risulta il grado di cieca credenza nei precetti religiosi, maggiore sarà la probabilità che un individuo abbia un'attitudine omofoba". Ed emette la condanna finale: "Per essere più chiari, vi è un modello omofobo di tipo religioso, che considera l'omosessualità un peccato"».
Perché la Presidenza del Consiglio ha affidato tutte le pubblicazioni dell'Unar all'Istituto A.T. Beck?
«È quello che stiamo cercando di scoprire. C'è stata una regolare gara d'appalto? Chi vi ha partecipato? Al vincitore quanti soldi sono andati? Quali competenze ha questo istituto? Perché il Dipartimento delle Pari opportunità ne ha sposato in toto le tesi come se fossero le uniche possibili? Si saranno accorti, a Palazzo Chigi, che nelle linee-guida per i licei viene assegnato il compitino di aritmetica antiomofobico di Rosa che compra tre lattine di tè con i suoi papà, copiato pari pari dal fascicolo per la scuola primaria? Non molto scientifico, come lavoro».
Di Antonella Montano, direttrice dell'Istituto A.T. Beck, che cosa può dirmi?
«Poco. Se non che il suo libro Mogli, amanti, madri lesbiche è stato presentato da Paola Concia, l'ex deputata del Pd firmataria di un progetto di legge contro l'omofobia bocciato dal Parlamento».
In compenso è passato quello del collega Scalfarotto.
«Testo inutile e pericoloso. Già l'articolo 3 della Costituzione sancisce che "tutti i cittadini hanno pari dignità sociale e sono eguali davanti alla legge, senza distinzione di sesso". Non possono esservi cittadini più uguali di altri, come certi animali della Fattoria di George Orwell. Per la prima volta nel nostro ordinamento giuridico s'introduce un reato senza definirne il presupposto. Che cos'è l'omofobia? Non esiste una definizione scientifica, né leggi o sentenze che lo stabiliscano. Poiché non è una malattia riconosciuta dall'Oms, come la claustrofobia o l'agorafobia, verrà lasciata alla libera interpretazione dei magistrati. Tipico degli Stati totalitari. Mi ricorda il reato di "attività antisocialista" nell'Urss: nessuno sapeva in che cosa consistesse, però ti faceva finire nei gulag». Non starà davvero esagerando? «In uno Stato liberale il cittadino sa preventivamente quali saranno le conseguenze dei suoi comportamenti. Il nostro diritto penale sanziona i fatti, non i motivi. Io rubo? Viene punito il furto. Che abbia rubato per fame – ecco un motivo – può servire al massimo per graduare la pena. Invece la legge Scalfarotto punisce i motivi. E crea una categoria privilegiata di soggetti che diventano meritevoli di tutela giuridica per il solo fatto di avere un certo orientamento sessuale». Ho capito: la legge non le piace. «Passato il principio secondo cui una categoria è stata discriminata, lo Stato dovrà dotarsi di sistemi riparativi e compensativi. È già successo con gli afroamericani negli Usa. Arriveremo alle quote viola, su calco di quelle rosa. Chi si dichiara gay avrà diritto a un posto di lavoro e a un alloggio. Non avendo il giudice strumenti per accertare l'omosessualità, basterà un'autocertificazione». La legge Scalfarotto non lo prevede. «La legge Scalfarotto non prevede nulla, qui sta l'inganno più subdolo. Punisce l'omofobia in base a un'altra legge, la Reale-Mancino, che fu promulgata per combattere l'ideologia nazifascista, il razzismo, l'antisemitismo. Con i gay parificati ai neri e agli ebrei, dire che un uomo non può sposare un altro uomo equivarrà a dire che va impedito il matrimonio fra l'uomo bianco e la donna nera». Conseguenze penali? «Terribili. Per una dichiarazione omofoba la legge mi punisce con 1 anno e 6 mesi di reclusione. Che diventano 4 anni se la faccio come associazione e addirittura 6 se ho una carica direttiva nella medesima. Con l'obbligo per lo Stato di procedere d'ufficio anche nel caso in cui il gay che ho offeso decidesse di perdonarmi o di ritirare la querela per evitare lo strepitus fori, cioè la pubblicità negativa». Papa, vescovi e preti sono candidati alla galera, visto che il catechismo, al paragrafo 2.357, presenta le relazioni gay «come gravi depravazioni», dichiara che «gli atti di omosessualità sono intrinsecamente disordinati» e «contrari alla legge naturale» perché «precludono il dono della vita», decretando che «in nessun caso possono essere approvati». «Sta già accadendo a tanti cristiani in giro per l'Europa. Tony Miano, 49 anni, statunitense, ex vicesceriffo della contea di Los Angeles che oggi fa il predicatore di strada, è stato arrestato lo scorso 1° luglio a Wimbledon, in Inghilterra, perché commentava davanti a un centro commerciale il capitolo 4 della prima Lettera ai Tessalonicesi di San Paolo, quella che invita ad astenersi dall'impudicizia. Ho letto il verbale dell'interrogatorio: allucinante, sembra un resoconto tratto dagli Acta Martyrum. E per fortuna che il poveretto non aveva osato proclamare in pubblico la prima Lettera ai Corinti, quella in cui San Paolo dice che "né effeminati, né sodomiti erediteranno il regno di Dio"». Come presidente dei Giuristi per la vita, passerà 6 anni in cella anche lei. «Se essere omofobo significa considerare l'omosessualità un peccato, ritenere che il sesso debba essere aperto alla trasmissione della vita, credere nei precetti della Chiesa, allora mi autodenuncio: dichiaro pubblicamente e con orgoglio ai funzionari dell'Unar di essere un omofobo. Al Festival di Sanremo va in scena il Cristo omosessuale, [ profanazione, e, sacrilegio dei massoni bildenberg, ONU, NATO, USA: la vergogna! gli anticristo, che, non hanno nessun diritto, di governare i popoli europei! ] Il palcoscenico del "Festival della canzone italiana", da vetrina promozionale dell'omosessualità, rischia di divenire teatro di un'esibizione blasfema e offensiva nei confronti di Gesù Cristo per opera di un cantante dichiaratamente omosessuale. Anche quest'anno, infatti, la storica kermesse musicale, condotta sempre dal duo Fazio-Letizzetto e giunta alla sua 64esima edizione, sarà strumentalizzata in chiave ideologica. Ma se la scorsa edizione ci si era limitati ad un semplice spot anti omofobia con il siparietto muto di una coppia gay che raccontava, attraverso cartelli, la propria storia d'amore annunciando la loro partenza "forzata" alla volta di New York per coronare il loro sogno di unirsi in matrimonio, quest'anno si è andati ben oltre, invitando come ospite internazionale, per la serata del 19 febbraio, il cantante canadese, fino ad oggi ignoto al grande pubblico, Rufus Wainwright. Quest'ultimo, definito da Elton John come "il più grande songwriter sul pianeta", è conosciuto, soprattutto, per l'esecuzione di testi osceni e dissacratori come il celebre "Gay Messiah", che annuncia la venuta di un messia omosessuale"che risusciterà da un film porno degli anni '70", il "Battista", che mescola battesimo e sperma e altre testi contenenti allusioni erotiche di natura blasfema. Le immagini di lui travestito da Cristo in croce sul palco sono sufficientemente eloquenti e dicono più di tante parole. Wainwright, apertamente gay, ha sposato nel 2012 a New York il compagno Jorn Weisbrodt dopo che la coppia nel febbraio 2011 aveva annunciato la nascita della loro figlia Viva Katherine grazie all'utero in affitto di Lorca Cohen, figlia del noto cantautore canadese Leonard Cohen. La diffusione della notizia sulla presenza blasfema del musicista canadese ha suscitato l'immediata protesta e indignazione di tanti cattolici ma anche di numerosi laici che, con saggezza e onestà intellettuale, riconoscono nelle performances di Wainwright un'offesa gratuita e inaccettabile ai sentimenti religiosi di tanti telespettatori italiani costretti a sorbirsi tale provocatorio e offensivo spettacolo sulla più importante emittente televisiva nazionale. L'associazione "Giuristi per la Vita" ha ufficialmente diffidato gli organizzatori del Festival sottolineando come i testi dello pseudo artista canadese contengano «palesemente il reato di offese ad una confessione religiosa mediante il vilipendio di persone, previsto e punito dall'art.403 del Codice Penale». Ricordando, inoltre, come sia lo stesso "Regolamento del Festival" a prevedere, ai sensi dell'art. 25, primo comma che «gli artisti durante le loro esibizioni non potranno assumere atteggiamenti e movenze o usare abbigliamenti e acconciature in contrasto con i principi del buon costume ovvero in violazione di norme di legge o di diritti anche di terzi». A tale proposito, invitano la Direzione Artistica, il Comitato di Controllo e la Commissione Musicale «a vigilare e controllare il puntuale rispetto della citata norma regolamentare, anche in considerazione della sensibilità religiosa di milioni di telespettatori e della natura di servizio pubblico che riveste la rete emittente».
Ci auguriamo che il presidente della "Rai" Tarantola ed il direttore generale Gubitosi intervengono al più presto per sospendere tale blasfema esibizione pagata con i soldi pubblici dei cittadini italiani e invitiamo Rufus Wainwright ha incentrare le sue prossime provocatorie esibizioni "artistiche" sulla religione islamica. [ tutti gli anticristo della UE, ONu, ed il bigottismo, sessuofobico, della Chiesa Cattolica, che, si ostina ad essere il nemico della LEGGE NATURALE, per non concedere, a suo danno, il matrimonio ai preti! ] La strategia ideologica globale delle istituzioni internazionali. (di Lupo Glori) Se qualcuno aveva qualche dubbio sul carattere ideologico delle istituzioni internazionali dopo le ultime inequivocabili stoccate messe a segno da quest'ultime si dovrà ricredere. L'approvazione del "rapporto Lunacek" lo scorso 4 febbraio da parte del Parlamento europeo e, con un tempismo sintomatico, l'atto d'accusa dell'ONU nei confronti della Santa Sede per l'abuso sui minori, gettano definitivamente la maschera mostrando, se ce n'era bisogno, il volto ideologico e anti cattolico dei poteri forti internazionali. L'approvazione, alcuni mesi fa, da parte di un'altra delle istituzioni più rappresentative, l'"Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità" (OMS), del documento sugli Standard per l'educazione sessuale per la pianificazione e l'attuazione di politiche di promozione della salute sessuale e riproduttiva non era stato che la prima avvisaglia di una decisa e pianificata strategia globale finalizzata a promuovere ed calare dall'alto i propri perversi progetti politici. Non è difficile individuare il filo ideologico che accomuna questi tre atti che seppur emanati da entità distinte si propongono il medesimo fine: il sovvertimento dell'ordine naturale e cristiano. Il rapporto ONU contro la Santa Sede sulla questione degli abusi dei minori sembra essere un pretesto per un attacco frontale e più generale rivolto alla Chiesa cattolica e a tutto ciò che essa rappresenta. Le istituzioni internazionali pretendono tappare la bocca all'ultimo e indomito baluardo contro l'attuale dilagante relativismo morale, arrivando ad esigere che rinunci a proclamare la propria millenaria dottrina in campo sociale mettendo la propria autorità al servizio dei loro folli piani ideologici. Nel durissimo atto di accusa in sedici pagine la "Commissione Onu per i diritti dei minori" esorta infatti la Chiesa a «fare pieno uso della sua autorità morale per condannare tutte le forme di molestia, discriminazione o violenza contro bambini sulla base del loro orientamento sessuale o l'orientamento sessuale dei loro genitori e a sostenere gli sforzi a livello internazionale per la depenalizzazione dell'omosessualità».
Il rapporto ONU, al punto 53, riprende la Santa Sede anche sul tema dell'aborto. Il Comitato, infatti, «esprime la sua più profonda preoccupazione per il caso di una bambina di 9 anni in Brasile che nel 2009 dovette fare un intervento di aborto salva-vita dopo essere stata stuprata dal suo padre putativo, la cui madre come il dottore che praticò l'aborto furono sanzionati (sic) dal vescovo di Pernambuco, una sanzione che è stata poi approvata dal capo della Congregazione dei Vescovi della Chiesa cattolica». Al punto 55, la Sede Apostolica, viene addirittura esortata a mettere mano al proprio Codice di diritto canonico dichiarando come essa debba «rivedere la sua posizione sull'aborto che pone ovvi rischi sulla vita e la salute delle ragazze incinte e di emendare il canone 1398 relativo all'aborto con una visione che identifichi le circostanze sotto cui l'accesso ai servizi di aborto può essere permesso». Non manca nel documento ONU un esplicito riferimento alla promozione della teoria del gender sulla quale la Chiesa cattolica viene strigliata per le proprie anacronistiche posizioni, leggiamo infatti: «la Santa Sede continua a porre enfasi sulla promozione della complementarietà e dell'eguaglianza in dignità, due concetti che differiscono dall'eguaglianza per legge e per pratica delineata nell'articolo 2 della Convenzione e che sono spesso usati per giustificare legislazioni e politiche discriminatorie». A tale proposito la Commissione «chiede alla Santa Sede di prendere misure attive per rimuovere dai libri di testo delle scuole cattoliche tutti gli stereotipi sul gender che possono limitare lo sviluppo dei talenti e delle abilità di ragazzi e ragazze e minano le loro opportunità educative e di vita». L'ideologia del gender è anche alla base del Rapporto Lunacek, testo che si propone di dettare le linee guida europee in materia di promozione dei diritti LGBTI chiedendo l'adozione nell'ordinamento giuridico dell'Unione Europea degli ideologici "Principi di Yogyakarta" e l'introduzione del matrimonio tra persone dello stesso sesso.
La relazione Lunacek, dal nome della sua relatrice Ulrike Lunacek, eurodeputata austriaca lesbica, Co-Presidente dell'Intergruppo LGBTI al Parlamento Europeo, chiede, inoltre, agli Stati europei di adottare misure penali per combattere l'omofobia esortandogli ad «astenersi dall'adottare leggi che limitino la libertà di espressione in relazione all'orientamento sessuale e all'identità di genere e riesaminare quelle già in vigore». L'educazione alla diversità di genere dovrà essere effettuata attraverso appositi corsi formativi da promuovere negli gli istituti scolastici e, in generale, a tutti i livelli attraverso «lo scambio di buone prassi tra gli Stati membri per quanto riguarda la formazione e l'istruzione delle forze di polizia, della magistratura inquirente, dei giudici e degli operatori dei servizi di assistenza alle vittime». Tali documenti, seppur non vincolanti per gli Stati membri, rivestono un ruolo decisivo per la loro capacità di influenzare i programmi socio-politici dei singoli paesi UE e costituiscono i testi di riferimento a cui si appelleranno in futuro le associazioni LGBTI impegnate nella promozione dei diritti omosessuali.
Essi esprimono, inoltre, palesemente la linea ideologica dell'Unione Europea che dettando i principi ispiratori delle politiche nazionali degli Stati membri si rende protagonista di un evidente e curioso paradosso: da un lato chiede alla Chiesa Cattolica di abdicare dal suo "ruolo morale" rinunciando ad affermare verità e principi assoluti in nome di una malintesa tolleranza e di un ambiguo principio di non discriminazione; dall'altro arroga a sé tale autorità morale pretendendo di imporre come unici principi assoluti e universali, questi sì "non negoziabili", quelli sanciti arbitrariamente dalle lobby internazionali. Inaugurato a Ferrara il nuovo "Centro Culturale Islamico" [ tutto il nazismo della LEGA ARABA, senza reciprocità, e sotto eida ONU ]. Sabato 15 febbraio nel quartiere multiculturale del GAD, in via Oroboni 10, è stato inaugurato il nuovo Centro Culturale Islamico di Ferrara, voluto in prima persona dall'Associazione Pakistani Ferraresi attiva da oltre un anno in città con diversi progetti in ambito sportivo, educativo, religioso e culturale. L'obiettivo del centro, come riporta Francesca Mascellani sul sito www.listonemag.it, è "prima di tutto quello dell'integrazione, un luogo al quale chiunque si può avvicinare per conoscere la cultura pakistana, la religione islamica, le attività che vi si svolgono". All'inaugurazione non hanno preso parte né donne né bambini della comunità islamica in quanto partecipanti non "graditi" secondo le loro tradizioni ad un evento del genere. Come scrive sempre Francesca Mascellani, «il centro è già frequentato da alcune settimane da oltre 100 fedeli, il 90% dei quali appartenenti alla comunità pakistana di Ferrara, comunità che conta circa 200 persone. Svolgono a Ferrara, da oltre 10 anni, attività imprenditoriali prevalentemente nel settore alimentare, kebabberie, negozi alimentari, macellerie, molti lavorano nel bolognese».
Il nuovo centro islamico non ha ancora un suo Imam, tuttavia, nella comunità ferrarese ci sono diverse persone, che pur non avendo il ruolo ufficiale di Imam, sono state riconosciute dai fedeli come guide spirituali. Le preghiere sono recitate rigorosamente in arabo secondo quanto prescritto dal sacro Corano, mentre l'urdu (la lingua ufficiale pakistana) e l'italiano sono la seconda e terza lingua.
Alcuni ragazzi pakistani intervistati dalla Mascellani spiegano come «per un musulmano non è difficile vivere in Italia, perché la cultura italiana, come tutta quella occidentale, non è incompatibile con l'Islam. I problemi di integrazione nascono da differenze culturali, non da questioni religiose». Gli si potrebbe rispondere che, al contrario, per un cristiano è impossibile vivere liberamente il proprio credo religioso nei paesi islamici e che purtroppo luoghi come il centro islamico appena inaugurato, lungi dall'essere spazi culturali di integrazione quanto piuttosto centri di propaganda islamica, corrono il rischio di ghettizzare ed isolare ancora di più culture profondamente diverse nelle quali l'aspetto religioso gioca, storicamente, un ruolo fondamentale. [ ecco, perché, i gay bildenberg, Spa, FMI, odiano la Svizzera! ] In Svizzera si voterà sull'educazione sessuale a scuola. In Svizzera, lo scorso 30 gennaio la Cancelleria federale ha riconosciuto come valide le 110.040 firme giunte attraverso l'iniziativa popolare, "Protezione dalla sessualizzazione nella scuola dell'infanzia e nella scuola elementare", lanciata il 17 aprile 2012 da un comitato trasversale formato da madri di famiglia, professionisti e politici di diversi schieramenti e rilanciata il 19 giugno dello stesso anno, dopo essere stata interrotta per uno scandalo interno al gruppo promotore. Questo il testo dell'iniziativa che prevede precise modifiche alla Costituzione federale a tutela della libertà all'educazione dei propri bambini da parte dei genitori: «L'educazione sessuale spetta ai genitori; Lezioni volte a prevenire gli abusi su minori possono essere impartite a cominciare dalla scuola dell'infanzia. Tali lezioni non contemplano elementi di educazione sessuale; Lezioni facoltative di educazione sessuale possono essere impartite dagli insegnanti di classe a fanciulli e adolescenti che hanno compiuto il nono anno di età.; Lezioni obbligatorie destinate alla trasmissione di informazioni sulla riproduzione e sullo sviluppo umani possono essere impartite dagli insegnanti di biologia a fanciulli e adolescenti che hanno compiuto il dodicesimo anno di età.; I fanciulli e gli adolescenti non possono essere costretti a seguire lezioni di educazione sessuale che oltrepassano i limiti anzidetti.».
La raccolta di firme è partita da alcuni genitori indignati dopo l'avvio, nell'anno scolastico 2011/12, di un progetto sperimentale, finalizzato a colmare le lacune dei giovani allievi in materia di conoscenze sessuali, che ha coinvolto 30 scuole dell'infanzia ed elementari del semicantone di Basilea-città per volere del Dipartimento (ministero) basilese della Pubblica educazione – in collaborazione con il "Centro di competenza educazione sessuale a scuola" di Lucerna. Lo sconcerto e la preoccupazione dei genitori basilesi ha fatto si che in breve tempo la notizia si diffondesse in tutto il paese. Christoph Eymann, ministro dell'istruzione a Basilea e membro del Partito democratico liberale si è visto recapitare in pochissimo tempo più di 3000 lettere di protesta ed è stato costretto ad approfondire la questione. Il raggiungimento della quota necessaria di 100mila firme – raccolte in tutta la Svizzera – dimostra la capacità delle iniziative popolari di fare pressione in maniera efficace contro "cattive leggi" imposte per via politiche e burocratiche e costringe ora il corpo elettorale elvetico a pronunciarsi ufficialmente sul discusso progetto. (Gianandrea de Antonellis) Il 18 maggio 2014 segnerà il settantesimo anniversario della storica battaglia di Montecassino, che determinò la sconfitta della Wehrmacht tedesca, lo sfondamento della Linea Gustav e l'avanzata degli Alleati, senza più ostacoli insormontabili, verso la liberazione di Roma. La Mondadori ha anticipato i tempi pubblicando, nella collana Oscar Storia, il nuovo libro di Luciano Garibaldi Gli eroi di Montecassino. Storia dei polacchi che liberarono l'Italia (176 pagine, 11 euro). È una ricostruzione storica dell'evento fondamentale della campagna d'Italia 1943-45 ‒ appunto la battaglia di Montecassino che determinò il crollo della Linea Gustav – fortemente incentrata sull'ispirazione cattolica che muoveva i volontari polacchi guidati dal generale Wladyslaw Anders. Quasi centomila ufficiali e soldati polacchi, presi prigionieri dal russi all'atto dell'invasione tedesco-sovietica della Polonia nel settembre 1939 (l'avvenimento che scatenò la Seconda Guerra Mondiale), ebbero la possibilità di tornare a combattere dopo che, il 22 giugno 1941, Hitler invase l'Unione Sovietica (Operazione Barbarossa). Dai Gulag dove erano stati rinchiusi dai sovietici, raggiunsero, dopo trasferimenti allucinanti, il Medio Oriente e qui, sotto la supervisione britannica, si formò il 2° Corpo d'Armata polacco, che venne inserito nell'Ottava Armata alleata impegnata sul fronte italiano. La prima, grande vittoria dei polacchi di Anders fu la battaglia di Montecassino, portata a termine il 18 maggio 1944 al prezzo di quasi mille vite umane e più di duemila feriti. I tedeschi si erano installati tra le rovine della storica abbazia benedettina, distrutta da un micidiale quanto assurdo bombardamento anglo-americano. Da qui, con i loro cannoni a lunga gittata, impedivano agli Alleati di avanzare verso Roma. Per ben quattro mesi, soldati di ogni nazionalità avevano tentato invano la conquista della vetta, lasciando sul campo decine di migliaia di morti. Finché arrivò il turno dei polacchi e, con essi, arrivò la vittoria. Fu soltanto l'inizio di una serie di successi militari concretatisi con la liberazione delle Marche, dell'Emilia-Romagna e, infine, di Bologna, espugnata il 21 aprile 1945. La componente cattolica del carattere e della formazione del 2° Corpo d'Armata ebbe una straordinaria rilevanza durante tutte le operazioni belliche in Italia. Per la prima volta, dopo le terribili esperienze in URSS, e dopo i trasferimenti e le esercitazioni in Iran, Irak, Palestina ed Egitto, i soldati polacchi si trovavano a vivere e ad esercitare la loro missione in un Paese cattolico. Questa circostanza agevolò l'opera dei cappellani militari che strinsero rapporti di amicizia e solidarietà con il clero italiano e la popolazione civile. I cappellani militari polacchi, coordinati da una figura eccezionale, il vescovo Jozef Gawlina, si prodigarono sempre in soccorso e conforto sia dei soldati feriti sia della popolazione civile. In particolare, tre le direttive impartite da monsignor Gawlina: tenere alto il morale dei feriti, dare il conforto religioso ai moribondi, far sentire il proprio affetto alla popolazione italiana.
Durante tutto il suo pontificato, il Beato Giovanni Paolo II fu sempre vicino ai suoi compatrioti caduti per l'Italia. Ancora arcivescovo di Cracovia, il cardinale Karol Wojtyla visitò il cimitero di guerra polacco vicino al santuario di Loreto, soffermandovisi a lungo in preghiera. Mancavano pochi mesi alla sua elezione al soglio pontificio, avvenuta il 16 ottobre 1978. E l'ultimo viaggio prima di morire lo fece proprio a Loreto, nel settembre 2004, in occasione del convegno nazionale dell'Azione Cattolica. Nel corso dei suoi 27 anni di pontificato, si era recato altre cinque volte in visita al cimitero polacco, dove sono sepolti due suoi amici di gioventù. (Gianandrea de Antonellis)

02/13/2014. PAKISTAN. Islamabad: an innocent 24-year-old Christian man tortured to death by police. According to the police, the victim hanged himself. Autopsy results indicate however that he died from "serious internal injuries" sustained during interrogation. Arrested on charges of theft, the young man was subjected to brutal treatment to extract a confession. The incident occurred at a police station considered as a "model" facility. Islamabad (AsiaNews) - For police, Sabir Masih committed suicide by hanging himself. Medical reports show instead that he died from "severe internal injuries" caused by "torture and abuse." The 24-year old Pakistani Christian man died from the brutal treatment he received under police interrogation after he was arrested on unfounded charges of theft. In order to extract a confession, the agents did not hesitate from using force, causing injuries that proved fatal. The Catholic Church and members of civil society want justice, exemplary punishment for the perpetrators and an end to the violent deaths of ordinary citizens, innocent victims of so-called law enforcement officials. A father of two, Sabir Masih was arrested on Tuesday on charges of theft. Police brought him to the Kohsar Police Station in Islamabad, considered a "model" facility after undergoing a major retrofit to improve its efficiency and humane treatment of prisoners. Held overnight, the young man was interrogated at length. As soon as they found out that Sabir had been arrested, his family rushed to the police station to say that he was not involved in the theft since he had been at work for the whole day and had returned home after that. "He did not commit any crime," they shouted in a loud voice, in vain. In order to get a confession, police used force - a common practice in Pakistan. This in turn caused severe internal injuries that led to Sabir's death overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday. After his death, officers tried to explain the signs of violence by claiming that the young man had committed suicide by hanging himself in cell. In an attempt to cover up the matter, top police officials also ordered the family to bury him today. The latter however refused, demanding instead an autopsy. "The examples of China and Vietnam demonstrate how once countries join the WTO, or host big international events for which they have loosened controls slightly, the authoritarian regimes actually act more aggressively".
"So we'll have to see what happens in Laos next year," Cook noted.
All media in Laos are under state control. "You don't hear so much about the abuses that take place in Laos. Many things are hidden," Robertson explained.
Following Sombath's disappearance, Lao citizens are "very scared", he added, because "They feel that with the disappearance of such a prominent member of Lao civil society, that means the government could take anyone." WORLD WATCH LIST 2014 : LA LISTA DEI PAESI DOVE ESISTE LA PERSECUZIONE, Press release (8 gennaio 2014) Oggi Porte Aperte ha pubblicato la
World Watch List 2014, la nuova lista dei 50 paesi dove più si
perseguitano i cristiani al mondo. Senza ombra di dubbio,
la persecuzione dei cristiani nel mondo è in crescita
e si conferma anche quest'anno l'estremismo islamico come fonte principale (non l'unica) di tale persecuzione, in ben 36 stati su 50 presenti nella lista.
Nella top 10sono 9 gli stati a maggioranza islamica
(Somalia, Siria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Arabia Saudita, Maldive, Pakistan, Iran e Yemen).
La Corea del Nord è ancora al °1 posto per il 12° anno consecutivo. Si stima che tra 50.000 e 70.000 cristiani soffrano negli orribili campi di prigionia
nordcoreani. Persiste poi il trend di incremento della
persecuzione in Africa, con la Somalia, addirittura al 2° posto, il
Sudan all'11° e l'entrata nella WWList, direttamente al 16° posto della Repubblica Centrafricana, nazione al limite del collasso.
La guerra civile in Siria anche nel 2013 ha devastato il paese, salito addirittura
al 3°posto: la specifica vulnerabilità della comunità cristiana in questo conflitto è ormai un fatto accertato, dopo la presentazione in sede ONU e UE dei nostri rapporti sulla condizione dei cristiani. Ma peggioramenti preoccupanti si registrano, anche in
Pakistan, entrato nella top 10, Tunisia, oltre che in Iraq.
I paesi con il più elevato numero di violenze, contro i cristiani (assassini, rapimenti, stupri, distruzioni di chiese) sono: Repubblica Centrafricana,
Siria, Pakistan, Egitto, Iraq, Myanmar, Nigeria, Colombia, Eritrea
e Sudan. Assoluta, estrema, severa, moderata e leggera persecuzione
sono i gradi in cui abbiamo diviso la lista,
in base a un punteggio elaborato attraverso precisi questionari compilati sul campo dai nostri operatori e da vittime dirette della persecuzio
ne. La presenza nel territorio e il contatto diretto con i cristiani ci permette di

During the war with Israel last summer, Hamas dug tunnels under the Israel's border to kill, kidnap, and terrorize Israelis. Now, a new thriller warns that ISIS could use those same tactics to strike America. During the 50-day war, Hamas terrorists used an intricate series of tunnels to carry out sneak attacks. While IDF soldiers stopped those attacks, the tunnels shocked most Israelis to the core. The terror tunnels are designed to infiltrate Israeli communities close to the border with Gaza, which is about a mile away. Some of the tunnels are more than a mile long and 60 feet deep, with multiple exits. Clearly Hamas has been planning the tactic for a long time. The Israel Defense Forces destroyed many of the tunnels, but the frightening memory remains.

Now, a year later, Gordon, an Israeli-American, has written Day of the Dead, a thriller about those tunnels, which he says should be a wakeup call to America. "The country that is most vulnerable to that attack is my other homeland, the United States of America -- far more vulnerable because there are terrorist tunnels that exist already," Gordon explained. "They're called drug-smuggling tunnels, and they run from part of Mexico into California, to Arizona and to Texas," he said. A former FBI agent recently warned that those tunnels could be used as an underground highway for ISIS. Gordon says the drug tunnels could make an unholy alliance between ISIS and the Mexican drug cartels. "They don't even have to dig them; they just have to rent them from Mexican drug cartels," he continued. "They have billions of dollars; that's a language all the drug cartels understand." Gordon said ISIS studied Hamas last summer. "They watched what Hamas did. They saw why it failed. They know how it can succeed," he continued. "What people don't realize is the Middle East for ISIS is their R&D lab, their Silicon Valley, to what they want to do in the United States." Iranian Official Says We ‘Reject the Existence of Any Israeli on this Earth’. A senior Iranian official, discussing alleged pressure on Tehran to change its genocidal policy, said the goal to annihilate the Jewish state has nothing to do with the nuclear deal. Hussein Sheikh al-Islam, an Iranian parliamentary adviser on International Affairs, confirmed Tehran’s goal to annihilate the Jewish state in an interview Wednesday with Al-Ressalah, a Hamas-affiliated news site. 

“Iran diligently supports the resistance and its fighters [against Israel],” he stated, confirming Iran’s backing of Hamas and other Islamic terror groups.

Referring to the nuclear agreement with six global powers, led by the US, al-Islam said Iran rejected the connection made between the accord and the Islamic Republic’s support of regional terror. 

“These powers admitted that the reason for their pressure on us is our position on Israel,” he told Al- Resalah. “We told them that we reject the existence of any Israeli on this earth.” US President Barack Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry and other senior American officials promoting the Iran nuclear deal have played down the danger to Israel – and the US – posed by the Iranian regime, which continues to state its objective to annihilate the Jewish state. Indeed, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei several weeks ago published a book on how to destroy Israel. Nevertheless, US President Barack Obama has vowed to veto opposition to the nuclear agreement in a congressional vote scheduled for next month.

Living Torah: Do Not Repeat King Solomon’s Mistake

 We don’t keep the Torah because we know, or don’t know, the reason behind the commandments. No one is wiser than God.

This week’s Torah portion is Shoftim (Deuteronomy 16:18 – 21:9), and in it we read about the mitzvah (commandment) to appoint a king. On that note, it is interesting to note that the Torah’s ideal form of governance is a combination of democracy, monarchy and theocracy. More about that another time.

The king had several rules he had to follow: He could not collect too many horses, he could not marry too many wives (a maximum of 18!), and he should not allow himself to get too wealthy. As the Torah says:

You shall surely appoint upon yourself a King whom the Lord your God will choose…only he should not accumulate a multitude of horses …and he should not have too many wives in order that they not cause his heart to go astray; and he should not have too much silver and gold…

Unfortunately, King Solomon slipped in some of the laws. The Midrash teaches that King Solomon created all types of excuses why the restrictions of a king do not apply to him. For example, we are told that Solomon thought to himself:

Why did God command that a King should not have too many wives? The Torah clearly says why: so that the king’s heart not go astray. This does not apply to me. I won’t be affected by my wives. They won’t influence me, I’ll influence them!

King Solomon ended up marrying a thousand wives. He was wrong. Solomon’s wives led him astray, even to the point of idolatry. They had a very detrimental effect upon him.

The lesson is clear. As the saying goes, “nobody is above the law,” and in this case, we are referring to the laws of the Torah. How many of us have transgressed Torah laws only because we claim to know the reason why God issued a prohibition and then rationalized that the reason no longer applies? Indeed, notice how the Torah does not often give the reason for its commandments. The purpose is usually hidden. The prohibition against a king marrying too many wives is one of the exceptions to the rule, and here the Torah actually does tell us why it is forbidden.

Avoid Rationalizing

If a person so great as King Solomon was wrong about the effect of ignoring a commandment whose reason is given, how much more so would we be wrong by trying to rationalize seemingly small transgressions when we don’t know the reasons they were given? For example, there are those who suggest that the reason the consumption of pork was forbidden was due to some type of health concern that no longer exists. As such, they argue, it should be permitted to eat pork nowadays. But where does the Torah give a reason for forbidding pork? Where does the Torah give a reason for any of the kosher laws, for that matter? It doesn’t. There are many more examples of this type of rationalization.

Bottom line: We don’t keep the Torah because we know, or don’t know, the reason behind the commandments. We keep the Torah because we are a holy nation that stood at Mount Sinai and was given a charge to live a certain way and to serve as a light unto the nations. Don’t make the mistake of Solomon. The Torah knows what’s best for us, and we should relish the opportunity to keep its commandments and serve God as He so decreed. Vivere Torah: Non ripetere errore di re Salomone

 Non teniamo la Torah, perché sappiamo, o non si sa, il motivo dietro i comandamenti. Nessuno è più saggio di Dio.

Porzione di Torah di questa settimana è Shoftim (Deuteronomio 16:18 - 21: 9), e in essa si legge sulla mitzvah (comandamento) di nominare un re. In tal senso, è interessante notare che la forma ideale della Torah di governo è una combinazione di democrazia, monarchia e la teocrazia. Di questo parleremo un'altra volta.

Il re aveva diverse regole che ha dovuto seguire: Egli non poteva raccogliere troppi cavalli, non poteva sposare troppe mogli, e non dovrebbe permettersi di arrivare troppo ricco (un massimo di 18!). Come la Torah dice:

Si deve sicuramente nominare su di te un re che il Signore tuo Dio avrà scelto ... solo lui non dovrebbe accumulare un gran numero di cavalli ... e lui non dovrebbe avere troppi mogli in modo che essi non causano il suo cuore per andare fuori strada; e lui non dovrebbe avere troppo argento e oro ...

Purtroppo, il re Salomone avanza alcune leggi. Il Midrash insegna che il re Salomone ha creato tutti i tipi di scuse perché le restrizioni di un re non si applicano a lui. Ad esempio, ci viene detto che Salomone pensò:

Perché Dio ordinerà che un re non dovrebbe avere troppi mogli? La Torah dice chiaramente perché: in modo che il cuore del re non andare fuori strada. Questo non si applica a me. Io non sarà influenzato dalle mie mogli. Non mi influenzano, io li influenzo!

La proibizione di sposare un re troppe mogli è una delle eccezioni alla regola, e qui la Torah fa effettivamente dirci perché è vietato.

Evitare Razionalizzare

Linea di fondo: Non teniamo la Torah, perché sappiamo, o non si sa, il motivo dietro i comandamenti. Manteniamo la Torah perché siamo una nazione santa che si trovava sul Monte Sinai e si è dato una carica di vivere in un certo modo e per servire come una luce per le nazioni. Non fare l'errore di Salomone. La Torah sa cosa è meglio per noi, e noi dobbiamo apprezzare l'opportunità di mantenere i suoi comandamenti e servire Dio come Egli così decretato. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme religious leader, on Saturday called on the Islamic nations to unite in the face of the world’s “bullies” and greatest enemies: the U.S. and Israel. 

Mr. Khamenei accused the U.S. of seeking to incite “third-party” states against the Islamic Republic but said “such third parties are only deceived puppets,” Iran’s Fars news agency reported.

He argued that the bullying powers are conspiring “against the [Koran] and not Shiism and Iran, because they know that the [Koran] and Islam are the center of awakening nations.”

Mr. Khamenei added that Iranians chant slogans like “death to America, death to Israel” because they have “realized that their real stubborn enemy is the world arrogance of Zionism,” the Times of Israel reported.

Speaking to Iranian officials in charge of the Hajj — the massive annual Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca — Mr. Khamenei said the pilgrimage was the perfect opportunity for Iranians to convey his message to other Muslims and encourage Islamic unity.

The open practice of any religion other than Islam is forbidden here, and conversion to another faith is punishable by death. Most Christians are ex,pats from Asia or Africa. During 2013, several Christian migrant fellowships were raided by police, and tens of worshippers detained and deported. In 2013, two men were convicted of proselytizing, and were sentenced to a few hundred lashes and several years in prison. Pray for their release.

The most important way to unite with our brothers and sisters who do face persecution is through prayer.

Romans 15:30 says, "I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me."

One Nigerian widow said, "I didn't know that anyone outside of Nigeria knew what was happening to us Christians. Now that I know that others are praying, I am greatly encouraged."

Christian Persecution is any hostility, experienced from the world, as a result of one's identification with Christ. From verbal harassment to hostile feelings, attitudes and actions, believers in areas with severe religious restrictions pay a heavy price for their faith. WHERE IT OCCURS?

In the United States, it's easy for believers to take for granted the rights they so regularly enjoy. From praying and worshiping in public to attending Sunday worship services, practice of one's faith is generally accepted in America.

But this isn't the case in many nations such as North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Mali, Syria, etc. in which religion, itself, is banned or where one faith system is permitted and touted, with all others being continually denigrated. The persecution is so severe in many localities, Christians are systematically targeted and mistreated because of their religious beliefs. According to The Pew Research Center, The Economist, Christians today are the most persecuted religious group in the world.

WHERE CHRISTIAN PERSECUTION IS WORST

Every year, we release our annual "World Watch List," a ranking of 50 countries that exposes the places Christians are most persecuted across the globe. World Watch List includes individuals in all Christian denominations within an entire nation.

INDEX OF CHRISTIAN PERSECUTION IN THE MOST UNFRIENDLY COUNTRIES

According to this graph, the statistic shows the index of the persecution of Christians in the top unfriendly countries around the world 2013. North Korea is the country with the strongest suppression of Christians with an index value of 87.The survey for the World Watch List included various aspects of religious freedom: the legal and official status of Christians, the actual situation of Christians living in the country, regulations from the state as well as factors that can undermine the freedom of religion in a country.

WHY IT OCCURS? AUTHORITARIAN GOVERNMENTS SEEK TO CONTROL ALL RELIGIOUS THOUGHT AND EXPRESSION. There are variety of reasons why Christians are persecuted. One of the reason it occurs, is when severe abuse of Christians takes place under the authoritarian government. In the case of North Korea and other Communist countries, authoritarian governments seek to control all religious thought and expression as part of a more comprehensive determination to control all aspects of political and civic life. These governments regard some religious groups as enemies of the state because they hold religious beliefs that may challenge loyalty to the rulers.

HOSTILITY TOWARDS NONTRADITIONAL AND MINORITY RELIGIOUS GROUPS

Another reason why Christians are persecuted is hostility towards nontraditional and minority religious groups. For example, in Niger more than 98 percent of the population are Muslims and hostility comes more from society than from the government. Historically, Islam in West Africa has been moderate, but in the last 20 years dozens of Islamic associations have emerged, like the Izala movement which aims to restrict the freedom of 'deviant Muslims' and minority religious groups like Christians.

THE LACK OF BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS. The lack of basic human rights is another significant part of persecution in some countries. For instance, in Eritrea violations such as lack of freedom of expression, assembly, religious belief and movement; extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, extended incommunicado detention, torture and indefinite national service cause many Eritreans to flee the country. Freedom of religion, like all freedoms of thought and expression, are inherent. Our beliefs help define who we are and serve as a foundation for what we contribute to our societies. However, today many people liver under governments that abuse or restrict freedom of religion. Christians in such areas suffer deeply, and are denied basic freedoms that humans should be entitled to. In 1948 the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This declaration came as a result of the treatment of the Jews in Nazi Germany. The document states that every person is entitled to basic human rights. This reaffirmed the dignity and worth of all human beings no matter what a person's race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, or other status. In 1966, the United Nations developed the International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights in addtion to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Article 18 of the International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights focuses on four elements of religious freedom:

Everyone shall have the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion. This right shall include freedom to have or to adopt a religion or belief of his choice, and freedom, either individually or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in worship, observance, practice and teaching.

No one shall be subject to coercion which would impair his freedom to have or to adopt a religion or belief of his choice.

Freedom to manifest one's religion or beliefs may be subject only to such limitations as are prescribed by law and are necessary to protect public safety, order, health, or morals or the fundamental rights and freedoms of others.

The States Parties to the present Covenant undertake to have respect for the liberty of parents and, when applicable, legal guardians to ensure the religious and moral education of their children in conformity with their own convictions

The Bible calls us to be advocates of human rights. Psalm 82:3 says "Stand up for those who are weak and for those whose fathers have died. See to it that those who are poor and those who are beaten down are treated fairly." As Christians we need to see that all people are entitled to basic human rights.

WHY WE SERVE PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS?

As Christians in the free world, we are to take stand for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ. It is a simple matter of compassion and justice to speak up for the suffering (Zechariah 7:9, Luke 11:42, Matthew 25:35,36). In following Christ's example, we are to show mercy to those who are suffering, especially those in the household of faith (I Corinthians 12:26,27).

BIBLE AND LITERATURE DISTRIBUTION

In 2012, Open Doors continued its commitment to placing Bibles and other biblical literature into the hands of the persecuted Church. We have never wavered from our commitment to the principle that the Spirit of God uses the Word of God to do the work of God in the hearts and minds of people. Over 2.4 million Bibles, study materials, and children's curricula were delivered to waiting hands and hearts in 2012.

In the Middle East, over 830,000 Bibles and study materials were distributed while in Africa 50,000 children received their own Bible from Open Doors. One Nigerian boy joyfully exclaimed "now that I have my own Bible I can read it anytime I want!" In Egypt, where Christ,followers are facing increased persecution, Open Doors brought critical assistance with the distribution of more than 160,000 Bibles. In Central Asia, Christian coloring books produced by Open Doors in several native languages were distributed to thousands of children who were introduced to the stories of the Bible for the first time. The delight of owning a Bible was dramatically felt in the words of a young Sri Lankan student whose seminary career had never included a Bible of his own until Open Doors gave him one. "My Study Bible has helped me understand Bible passages better," he shared. "Especially those I preach about on a Sunday."

LEADERSHIP AND PASTORAL TRAINING. Training Leaders to become effective ministers of God's Word for Sama Believers., The conviction that the church is only as strong as its leadership has been a driving value at Open Doors since the beginning. In 2012, over 219,000 church leaders received assistance from Open Doors through seminars offering training in theology, teaching the Bible, leadership, perseverance through trial, discipleship and counseling.

Open Doors took advantage of opportunities in the Middle East to introduce a Trauma Counseling Training course called Captivity and Release. With imprisonment becoming a daily reality in many areas, this training course addresses the unique needs of those who survive the miseries of confinement, interrogation and even torture. Through these sessions church leaders are equipped to come alongside those who are being overwhelmed with waves of despair and spiritual emptiness. We are seeing many find physical, emotional and spiritual healing, and restoration.

Where persecution is rampant, the only hope is a strong biblical foundation and through people,to,people training Open Doors continues to see this hope grow among those whose faith in Christ can mean the reality of daily persecution.

CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT. Open Doors distributed bicycles to needy pastors and evangelists. Often the broader effects of religious persecution go unrecognized by those whose only contact with the persecuted church comes through stories of imprisonment and torture. But many more suffer being ostracized from their neighbors and ruthlessly prevented from making a living, gaining education for their children, and even getting the basic necessities of life.

In 2012 Open Doors served more than 207,000 people through community development projects designed to provide job training, educational opportunities, financial support, church restoration, and medical assistance. In Egypt, 29,500 Christ,followers found themselves in immediate and desperate need. Open Doors was there to help, both spiritually and with the provision of daily essentials. In Central Asia, a young couple was forced from their jobs when the authorities found a Bible in their home. Open Doors stepped in to help them purchase enough livestock to begin a small farm that, under the blessing of God, now supports the family as well as a local church. The wife declared "Helping us in this way gives us wings to continue! Thank you for making all this possible."

PRAYER, PRESENCE AND ADVOCACY MINISTRIES. Praying for Persecuted Believers at National Open Doors Day. Open Doors has always been about being with those who follow Christ at great personal cost. We are privileged to share their suffering, learn from their courage, and champion their cause. In all this, prayer stands at the beginning, at the end, and everywhere in between. Through our prayers God builds His heart in us even as He moves miraculously in the lives of our persecuted Christian brothers and sisters. Through our commitment to being with people we have the privilege of reminding them that they are loved by God, and by our prayer partners around the world. They are not forgotten. Our worldwide teams are actively sharing the grace and truth of Christ with the widows, orphans and prisoners, reminding them that the valley of death can't derail the love and provision of our Savior. The Persecuted Church remains strong, and we are advocating for them at the highest levels of government, using every means possible to promote justice and mercy. Yet, our strongest weapon remains the faithful, heart,felt, and informed prayers of God's people, as we intercede for those who share our faith but not our freedom.

DOWNLOADABLE REPORTS & AUDIT FORMS. "What Do You Want Me To Do For You?" Posted on February 14, 2014 by Janelle in Countries, Stories. Communism, deep spiritual allegiance and persecution are all challenges that Christians in Vietnam face. It is a mainly Buddhist country (52.48%), with a population of over 90 million people. Vietnam is ranked 18 on the Open Doors World Watch List, which is three spots up from its ranking in 2013. Though these challenges are difficult for Christians in this country, they are also opportunities for us to join together and pray for these believers. Jesus had a heart for listening to and learning about the problems that each person he encountered was facing. In Mark 10:51, Jesus asks the blind man, "What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus obviously knew that the man was blind, yet just like He does today, he waited for the man himself to declare his need to Jesus.Through this example, we know that we must learn to pray for specific needs on behalf of the persecuted, so that our prayers will rise like incense to God, and we will see change in the world. Here are two stories from Vietnam that we can pray for.

Last January, local authorities refused to grant believers in South Vietnam a permit to hold Sunday worship. Their pastor, Hoan*, had been renting a house for their weekly fellowship for the past eight months. The officers claimed that there was no "red paper"—indicating it was for lease—attached to the said house. The religious pressure took its toll on Hoan's health. "When Hoan learned about Tien's case," said a local source, "Hoan got sick."

In Central Vietnam, a police officer knocked down the door of another house church while it held its worship service on January 5. He demanded that believers write their names on a piece of paper. The youths, for fear of their names reaching their schools, rushed and hid in another room.

The rest of the congregation, however, stood their ground and refused to give their names. The officer pressured the pastor to give the names, and that if he did, the house church would be allowed to continue their worship. The pastor refused and said that the religious regulations—referring to Decree 92—required churches to report only the number of the members, but not their names.

God, we pray for these believers to continue in their boldness, and to not fold underneath the weight and pressure that these local authorities are putting on them. We thank you for their witness, and we pray that many people in their community want to know Jesus because of what these believers are doing. In Central Vietnam, a Christian student Thanh* was estranged from her mother, who had discovered a portrait of Jesus in her daughter's closet. Thanh had just come home from a youth prayer meeting on January 17 when her mother confronted, mocked and cursed her about the portrait. She forced Thanh to recant her faith on paper, and to choose between Jesus and her family.

"Thanh kept quiet," said another local source. "So, her mother got even more infuriated, and told Thanh to leave the house, but she stayed.". The mother would not speak to Thanh since, and the 23 year old university student had to take on a job, so she could continue and finish college. Thanh became a follower of Jesus at the age of eight, and had always wanted to share the gospel to her family. We are so encouraged, God, by the stand that Thanh has already taken. We ask that you would continue to pour Your strength into her. We ask so boldly for You to soften Thanh's mother's heart, and that the gospel would begin to be so beautiful and unavoidable to her.

Growing Faith: Letter Writing Campaigns, Posted on February 13, 2014 by Janelle in Countries, Stories. Letter Writing, Ethiopia. When Daniel, a student from Oregon, heard about our letter writing campaigns, he was instantly hooked. His faith has been strengthened through his experience connecting with the persecuted church through letters. He had a project to do for school, and he found a way to incorporate letter writing into it. Here, Daniel shares his experience with us:

When I first heard David's story, I was emotionally disarmed. David, a church leader in Ethiopia (17 on our World Watch List), was attacked by a group of men one fateful morning in his home community. Miraculously, David survived this violent attack and lives on to share his testimony of his love for Jesus Christ and the power of faith. As David so courageously asserts, "The Lord has given me another chance to serve Him. The bullets didn't get me. There were more than 30 attackers. It is by the prayers and support of other believers we survived so far. I can only say God wants me to continue His work here. I have some unfinished business here."

These brave people often live in environments of dire poverty with high crime rates and a complete lack of religious freedom. In spite of the conditions they have to endure, these people clutch firmly onto their faith and rise above the darkness that surrounds them. What they all have in common is not just faith, but hope. I then chose to participate in a letter writing campaign with Open Doors.

When I first began my project I had been given a list of people to write letters to, but I knew that I would need to do a lot of research before delving into my letter writing. I really didn't want to commit the mistake of commenting on situations in places in the world that are very foreign to me without fully understanding the social, political and spiritual climates of the countries where my letters would ultimately be sent. So, off I went, researching places like Ethiopia and Kenya, trying to understand what it is like to live in those parts of the world and what words of encouragement could I offer to the people living there. When the time came to start drafting my letters, I found it to be less intimidating than I had initially thought. Although I struggled at first to find the right words, I quickly discovered that all I really needed to do was speak from the heart. The message I was relaying was simple, but nonetheless important: To keep trusting God no matter what life throws at you. What I discovered in the process of writing these letters was that the things I wrote didn't just have the effect of helping the intended audience; they also had a profound effect on me at a time in my life when I have faced a number of personal crisis's and have had my faith tested.

The most profound realization I came to after engaging with those in the margins is with the right kind of mindset, I have the power to make the world a better place. In the words of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, "We have for once learnt to see the great events of world history from below, from the perspective of the outcast, the suspects, the maltreated, the powerless, the oppressed, the reviled—in short, from the perspective of those who suffer."

In the end, I found something that caused my faith to be challenged and gave me a much fuller understanding of the impact that faith, hope and the fight for social justice have on the world. I learned that these three things are closely intertwined and really can't exist without each other. Therefore, I now understand that I have a great responsibility and opportunity to help make the world a better place through my faith and newly enlightened philosophy that hope is the driving force to all positive change in this world. It is a light that God shines down into our darkness that gives us the strength to fight for what matters; for what is true, for what is good, for what is fair and for what is right. He started out with an open mind and a willing heart. That is something that we all can have, and with God's grace, we will begin to learn and see what life is like for the persecuted. We will develop compassion for them in incredible ways, just as Daniel has. We are so humbled by his heart for those in chains around the world, and we pray that all who read his story would be similarly challenged by God, and allow Him to beautifully interrupt their lives.

What Would Your Life Be Like In The Top 10 Countries?

Imagine getting ready for church, knowing that nearly 300 churches have been attacked in your country. Imagine knowing that not only you, but your parents, your children and your grandchildren have been sentenced to life in a prison camp because your faith was discovered. These thoughts never cross our minds as we get ready for Bible study, sit in church or when someone discovers our faith. But this is reality for many Christians around the world.

So what's it like to live in the worst places on earth to be a Christian? Take a deeper look at the top ten countries on the 2014 World Watch List: North Korea. For the 12th consecutive year, this is where Christian persecution is most extreme. The God,like worship of Kim Jong,Un and his predecessors leaves no room for any other religion. Forced to meet only in secret, Christians dare not share their faith, even with their families. Anyone discovered engaging in secret religious activity may be subject to arrest, torture or even public execution. Somalia. Islamic leaders and government officials publicly reinforce that there is no room for Christians in Somalia. The Islamic extremist group, al,Shabaab, targets Christians and last year reports indicate that at least ten believers were killed by the group. Christians often hide their faith from one another, for fear of betrayal. Syria. As the conflict inside Syria worsens, targeted violence against Christians has escalated. Many Christians have been abducted, physically harmed or killed, and many churches damaged or destroyed. In October, Islamic extremists invaded the ancient Christian settlement of Sadad, killing at least 45 people, and injuring many more.

Iraq. Islamic terrorist groups are increasing and are aiming to rid the country of Christians. According to a local source, every two or three days a Christian is killed, kidnapped or abused. As a minority group, Christians are an easy target for kidnappers.

Afghanistan. The country remains unstable, and Islamic extremist groups continue to gain power. Christianity is considered a 'Western' religion and those who leave Islam face pressures from family, society and local authorities. An Afghan politician recently called for the execution of converts to Christianity. There is no public church.

Saudi Arabia. The open practice of any religion other than Islam is forbidden and conversion to another faith is punishable by death. During 2013, several Christian migrant fellowships were raided by police, and many worshippers were detained and deported. In spite of all this, a growing number of Muslims are coming to Christ. Maldives. To be Maldivian is equated with being Muslim, so officially there are no Maldivian Christians, only expatriate Christians. The law prohibits conversion to other faiths, and those who do so face losing citizenship. There are no church buildings, and the few Maldivian Christians must hide their faith to avoid being discovered.

Pakistan. The notorious blasphemy laws continue to have devastating consequences for Christians. Women and girls are particularly vulnerable, and sexual assaults against underage Christian girls by Muslim men continue to be reported. A twin bomb attack on Anglican All Saints Church in Peshawar left 89 people dead. Iran, Since Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's warning of the ever,expanding influence of house churches, the treatment of Christians has rapidly worsened. The regime monitors church services, arrests converts, bans Farsi language services and has closed some churches. However, the church continues to grow. Yemen. There is some religious freedom for foreigners here, but evangelism is prohibited, and Yemenis who leave Islam may face the death penalty. Muslim,background believers are forced to meet in secret. Christians are believed to be under surveillance by extremists. World Watch List Challenge, 5 Afghanistan. Posted on February 10, 2014 by Emily in Countries, Stories. Afghanistan. "When Satan fell to earth, he fell in Kabul." This saying is sadly heard all too often in Afghanistan. Life in war,torn Afghanistan is hell on earth for many of its citizens. And for Christians, it's even worse… All Afghan Christians come from a Muslim background. If it becomes known that someone has converted to Christianity, he or she will face discrimination, hostility and severe persecution from their family, friends, community, local authorities and Muslim leaders. Due to this severe persecution, not a single official church remains in Afghanistan. Secret believers in Afghanistan are asking Christians worldwide to join them in prayer for their country. Here are their top five prayer requests: 1. The Christians in Afghanistan form a small church. Many are not part of a network of Christians. They feel isolated, and often do not know who to trust. Pray that the underground church is able to unite and to grow. 2. Christians are extremely vulnerable. Their families feel obliged to save the family honor by forcing them to reconvert. If that does not happen, Christians can be disowned, banished, abused, kidnapped or even killed. The authorities and extremist groups form another threat to the lives of Christians. 3. In 2014, the American troops will pull out of the country. There are many scenarios of what could happen. Extremists could seize power, or the government could work together with these extremist groups. Unless God intervenes, freedom of religion does not seem probable. 4. Thank God for the many Afghans who listen to Christian radio stations or download Christian materials from the internet. Some are genuine (but isolated) believers, others are disappointed in Islam and want to know more about Jesus Christ.

5. Every year, Christians lose their life for their faith. Often, these cases go unreported, but the pain and trauma of those who are left behind are immense. Pray that God heals the families of martyrs and makes them strong so they can endure in these difficult times.

Thoughts From Our Founder: 5 Essential Questions About The World Watch List

Brother Andrew. In 1955, a young man responded to God with obedience to help those being persecuted in the world. 60 years later, our founder Brother Andrew (85) still has that contagious yearning to be right alongside our brothers and sisters experiencing on,going persecution worldwide. Brother Andrew cannot help but be concerned about what is going on in the world. For the Open Doors Magazine, he shares his perspective of the new World Watch List.

What does the new World Watch List show you?

Persecution is not decreasing, but in 2/3 of the countries on the World Watch List, it is only increasing. In this respect, the World Watch List worries me, even though it is a good means of gaining ideas for prayer. Do you then pray for all the countries that are on the list?

I focus on the countries with which I am still closely involved: Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, and now Syria has joined these. I find it very worrying that a country like Syria, with a Christian background, is being destroyed like this. We must be present in these countries, as witnesses to Christ, in the same way that we must make the Word of God heard in all the places where we are in the world. In the Netherlands and Belgium, we can certainly do this by making the news of the list heard: these things are happening to our brothers and sisters around the world. Looking back on the year 2013, which event made the greatest impression on you? That I was able to pray with leaders of terrorist movements in the Middle East. They know full well that I do not agree with them, and still I am welcome there. I prayed for various leaders. They allowed this, and I can tell that they are seeking. I recall that I prayed with one and clearly mentioned the name of the Lord Jesus. When I said "Amen", he also confirmed the prayer with a sincere "Amen". Which development on the World Watch List worries you? That countries where previously there was previously no persecution are now suddenly shooting up. I am referring specifically to countries in Africa, such as the Central African Republic. This increase mainly has to do with the growing influence of Islam. No one will be able to do anything about this as long as we keep calling Muslims 'terrorists' and 'the enemy'. Anything you oppress and reject is actually going to grow. You see this happening with the persecuted Church, which is growing despite oppression, but you also see it happening with radical Islam. How can we bring about a change in this? We must bring about a change in our thinking. As long as we make out all radical Muslim groups to be terrorists and condemn people in advance, tension will continue to exist between Christianity and Islam. I have difficulty with putting groups into boxes. On a political level, it is so quickly decided who the enemy is and whom we must support. But who is it about? Everyone falls under the great commission in Matthew 28:19, 'Go and make disciples of all men, baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything that I have taught you.' I keep to this and feel called to sincerely to love people because God loves them. Even if you are treated discourteously, remember your own attitude: show yourself to be a Christian. Do what Jesus did. Being a man devoted to prayer and involvement, Brother Andrew sets the tone for Open Doors. He understands the importance of being one with those being persecuted worldwide, and the importance of loving their persecutors. Through his example, we can learn so much. Join us in prayer for not only our own eyes to be opened to the role we must individually play, but also for these brothers and sisters to stand strong amongst their intense circumstances. David Curry, CEO of Open Doors USA in Washington D.C. sharing his thoughts on President Obama's remarks. Today, at the National Prayer Breakfast, President Obama spoke about the global persecution of Christians. "Yet even as our faith sustains us, it's also clear that around the world freedom of religion is under threat," said President Obama. The President went on to speak about countries such as North Korea, Iran, The Central African Republic and Nigeria (where nearly 300 churches were attacked last year). During his speech, he highlighted the peril of those enduring religious persecution. He specifically urged North Korea to release Christian missionary Kenneth Bae and for Iran to release Christian pastor Saeed Abedini. "I am encouraged by President Obama's support for persecuted Christians and other faith groups in such places as North Korea, Iran and other countries around the world," Curry says. "With the number of martyred Christians almost doubling last year from 1,201 to 2,123, according to Open Doors researchers, it is past due for a new focus in the State Department and our entire government to support the value of religious freedom worldwide and in our own country." Open Doors unveiled the 2014 World Watch List (which ranks the top 50 countries where Christians face the greatest persecution) in January at the National Press Club in Washington DC. Of the countries on the list, 66% saw an increase in persecution from the previous year. North Korea topped the list as the most difficult country in the world to be a Christian for the 12th consecutive year. The global persecution of Christians is increasing and cannot be ignored. You Can Do Something For Christians In The Central African Republic

"The pastor of the first site told us that 4,000 people are packed into the church compound," says the Open Doors Field Director for West and Central Africa. He is in Bangui, capital of war,torn Central African Republic (CAR), to encourage believers, assess the needs of persecuted Christians and to meet with senior church leaders. "The numbers are swelling day by day. The French and African Union troops are limited in number, and the Seleka have not yet been disarmed. Although the ex,rebels know their time is up, they still cause trouble in various places. New families keep arriving in the camps, indicating that security remains a problem in many areas in town. For camp staff, major challenges include the provision of water, sanitation and food. The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has provided some large shelters, and the Red Cross has dug some pit latrines and set up improvised washing areas."

As his report indicates, the situation in CAR is dire. Sometimes when we read reports like this, we feel hopeless, like there is nothing we can do to help our suffering brothers and sisters.

However, there is a way you can help Christians in CAR (and it will take less than a minute to do)!

Last week, several organizations started advocating for more troops on the ground in CAR. Join with us and these other organizations by sending tweets to Dlamini Zuma. Zuma is a South African politician, and is also the chairperson of the African Union Commission, the executive/administrative branch of the African Union.

The body of Salem Dawood Coca was found in his truck on the 8th of July, one month after he had been abducted. Salem was a 63 year old water truck driver known for his kindness. He left behind his wife and three children. Since his truck was rigged with explosives, the police believe that he was killed after he had refused to do a suicide bombing. A fieldworker says that this suicide bombing wasn't the only thing the kidnappers tried to force Salem into: "I believe that they also wanted to force him to convert to Islam and attack Christians, which this man very bravely refused. This man seems to have stood for his faith until the last moment."

The kidnappers had contacted Salem's family, saying that Salem was a 'Christian infidel,' but didn't demand a ransom. According to the same fieldworker, this shows that the kidnappers' intention was to intimidate and scare the Christians of Nineveh. Sadly, this isn't the first incident indicating this. "Muslim extremists often come from the outside with the clear goal of driving the Christians away," shares the field worker. "An example is the kidnapping and killing of the former Archbishop of this area, Paulos Faraj Rahho, that happened three years ago. Despite these incidents, Christians are unashamed to wear the cross in what Muslims feel should be an Islamic state.

While you may be the biggest fan or most outspoken against Facebook or Twitter, we are praising God today for His hand in using social media to bring people around the world to Himself. As you may recall from the revolution in Egypt a few years ago, social media is undoubtedly playing a key role in the organization and execution of social movements. In this unique blog post, our fieldworkers have gathered some posts for social media discussing persecution in Iraq, and the hope for the church within all of it. Young IDP (Internally Displaced Person): "That people have died because they rather die than deny their faith gives me hope: it shows me that Christianity is strong." Bishop Nicodemos of the Syrian Orthodox Church: "I have faith that one day all Christians that have fled will return to Iraq." IDP that has fled from place to place because of the violence: "In all these years I have been moving around, I never felt like my life was difficult, because God was with me all the time. When I was in need, he provided for me in miraculous ways. Like the time that I had to give birth to one of my children, and there were a lot of bombs outside. I had to bring myself to the hospital because there was no electricity, and the doctor asked me, "How is it humanly possible that you reached this hospital alive in your state of pregnancy?" I said, "God is always there." Sister from Erbil: "Yes, being a Christian is difficult in this country. When I was a child, I had to attend Islam classes because they taught Arabic at the same time, and if I would leave the class, the teacher wouldn't explain the Arabic to me. Still I have always felt strong and special as a Christian because I know I belong to God." Muslim background believer: "The presence of Christ gives me hope. I feel His presence even in places where people aren't good to me. Humans don't give hope, only Christ does." Brother from Erbil: "As a human I have no hope left. But because of Christ, I have hope." Brother from Baghdad: "Even if there is a bomb attack today, tomorrow we will go back to work, because we are convinced that Jesus cares for us. He will restore His Kingdom one day, this is my hope." Kurdish background believer: "Living as a Christian in a Muslim world isn't easy; I have to hide my Bible, but the contact with my fellow believers makes me strong." IDP who experienced violence from nearby: "I can't imagine living without my faith. Prayer helps me so much in this situation. I can overcome my problems when I pray. I feel God's power in me when I ask God to help me." Fieldworker: "I have hope because I see God is working in the hearts of Muslims in Iraq. Even if all the Christians from traditional churches leave Iraq, Christianity will stay, because God is building a church with Muslim background believers."

Priest of a small Christian village: "I have hope because God answered my prayers. I asked God to send me someone to help me to educate my congregation, and he sent you!"

Syrian Orthodox Clergyman: "Most of my family left the country, but I don't feel alone, because I see the church as my family." God, we ask You to open our eyes to strategic ways that we can use social media for Your glory. Teach us to depend on You for each moment, just as these brothers and sisters do. Help us to keep these believers always on our mind so that we can be praying continually for them, because we believe that prayer changes things.
